Call for Papers for Annual Conference of Oromo Society of Science and

                           Technology, OSST, August 26, 2023

Theme of the conference  Environmental Challenges and its Impact on Sustainable Development

Venue: Virual at https://us06web.zoom.us/j/7511475232

Objective of the conference

The conference is organized to explore the various climate impacts on environment, agriculture, health, infrastructure, economic, and social development activities, and their sustainability, in general and in Oromia in particular.  Oromia’s population is growing fast, and with that the need to increase the development of natural resources and prepare new farmlands while increasing the productivity of the existing ones, is essential to feed its citizens adequately. Unfortunately, this has enormous impacts on the environment.  The objective of this conference is to create a platform for scientific discussions and awareness so that economic activities, production, and services that impact the environment must result in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, toxic solid and liquid materials, waste generation, and excessive water and energy consumption. Material and food consumption is increasing, and its impacts are becoming beyond the capacity of our eco-system. These challenges must be countered with science and technology applications, which is the primary objective of OSST.

 Topics of the conference

Focusing on the environment in different sectors will be covered with particular attention to:

  1. Global warming (climate change)
    • Climate change mitigation and/or adaptation
