To Oromo Society of Science and Technology Board Members

Subject: Request of budget allocation to OSST’s project of book writing

On September 12, 2018 I wrote a short proposal for budget request of writing English-Afan Oromo technical dictionary. After discussing with OSST’s executive board member, namely, Dr. Muluneh Oli, on how to effectively implement the project, we came to the conclusion that it necessary to focus on only five high school-based subjects (These are: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer and IT) in the first series of our book. In parallel, other experts are still working on different subjects (that will be considered as our second and third series on similar work). For now, the time frame and budget breakdown for the selected subjects is presented as follows:

Overall plan: 10,000 word × 5 ETB =50,000 ETB (may not be so exact)

50,000 ETB

Payment agreement: one technical word with full scientific definition=5 ETB. Estimated words planned to be collected per discipline =2000 technical words. So 2000´5=10,000. And for 5 disciplines, total=10,000´5=50,000 ETB

Payment schedule

  • Till Jan 15th, 60% (0.6×50,000=30,000 ETB) will be paid…. [by this time 6000 technical terms expected]
  • Till validation time (Mar 20th) the remaining 40% (0.4×50,000=20,000 ETB) will be paid
